SDSS 2027 Open Call—Now Open

Shared Dialogues, Shared Space (SDSS) is one of KAF’s flagship initiatives that offers artist-led, participatory projects to the public in an outdoor environment across NYC. A year-long journey, SDSS serves as a platform for artists to engage directly with the public, exploring how art fosters spaces for dialogue, cultural expression, collective memory, and community connection. KAF produces this platform by collaborating with city agencies, community-based organizations, and small businesses, including DOT, Parks, South Bronx Unite, Lea Peña del Bronx, Coffee Factory, Croffle House, and others. Creative work produced through SDSS in 2026 were collective drawing by Sohhee Oh, collective wearable 2-dimensional work by Lucia Warck-Meister, and a digital archive by Mashiyat Zaman. In 2027, KAF will continue SDSS as an ongoing, socially engaged public art initiative featuring interactive events that culminate in temporary public art installations. ELIGIBILITY 

NYC-based artists who are legally authorized to work and earn income in the United States. Emerging, underrepresented, BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, women, and/or immigrant artists are strongly encouraged to apply. Artists from the communities where art events will be held are encouraged to apply. Students who are enrolled in a degree-seeking program during 2027 are NOT eligible. 

Artists must be able to participate in the following events:

• SDSS Queens Community Engagements: May 29, June 5, and June 12, 2027           (4 hours per event)

• SDSS at Summer Streets: July 31, August 7, August 14, August 21, and August 28, 2027 (8 hours per event)

• SDSS Bronx Community Engagements: September 11 and September 25, 2027     (3–4 hours per event)​
