Practicing Socially Engaged Public Art: 
Panel Discussion on 2026 Shared Dialogue, Shared Space (SDSS)

The "Practicing Socially Engaged Public Art" invites artists to share the transformative experiences they gained while participating in Korea Art Forum's public engagement activities, Shared Dialogue, Shared Space (SDSS). The panel will explore key questions: What do art, art-making, and public art look like through the lens of social engagement? Panelists will also reflect on the challenges they faced and offer practical advice for emerging artists to create a work of social practice art.

​SDSS is a year-long project where the artist engages the public in outdoor art activities across NYC, joined by writers who observe and reflect on the creation of a third space and the practice of world building. KAF produces this platform by collaborating with city agencies, community-based organizations, and small businesses, including DOT, Parks, South Bronx Unite, Lea Peña del Bronx, Coffee Factory, Croffle House, and others. Creative social activities offered through SDSS were collective drawing by Sohhee Oh, collective wearable 2-dimensional work by Lucia Warck-Meister, and a digital archive by Mashiyat Zaman, and a board game created by Ricardo Miranda Zúñiga.
